Pass the Antiquities Act to Support National Monuments

Pass the Antiquities Act to support our nation's Marine Monuments and public lands protections.

Members of Congress have introduced the Antiquities Act (HR. 1050, S. 367) to establish a National Monument Enhancement Fund and support the management of certain national monuments including Northwest Canyons and Seamounts Marine Monument, Papahānaumokuākea Marine Monument, and the California Coastal National Monument. National monuments are designated under the authority of U.S. presidents to protect our nation's outstanding public lands and waters. In 2016, the Trump administration began a formal review of recently designated National Monuments to consider whenever protections should be decreased. The Antinquities Act of 2019 would reaffirm support for National Monuments under review and support effective implementation of these special designations.
